The Transfer Rumour Rater – 5th March

Welcome to the beginning of a new weekly article published by myself. It’s pretty self explanatory really, i’ll be analysing some of the biggest rumours of the week and giving them a rating from 1 to 10 on how likely they are to happen. 1 meaning there’s more chance of a Berahino hat trick this weekend (sorry Saido), and 10 meaning it’s a cert. Without further ado, lets get into it!

Marco Asensio: Real Madrid – Chelsea

There’s absolutely no doubt that Asensio is one of world footballs brightest youngsters. Unbelievable technical ability is just the tip of the iceberg for the Los Blancos man. Despite his: fantastically quick feet, excellent vision and ability to use both feet, his most impressive attribute has to be his mental ability. Simply put, the Spaniards mind was designed for football. He is wise beyond his years, which is more than evident when watching him on a football pitch. All of this would be why the Daily Star is reporting that Antonio Conte’s blues have targeted the 21 year old. It is rumoured that Chelsea are trying to convince the wonder kid to swap Spain for London. Any club in world football would bite your hand off for Asensio’s signature and for me, the Blues wont be the ones to get it. It’s not entirely impossible but it seems like destiny for Asensio to become a legend at Real Madrid.

Rating: 3/10

Marco Reus: Borussia Dortmund – Tottenham

Reus is no newbie to the transfer rumour seen as he has commonly been linked with huge moves to Real Madrid and Manchester United. The Dortmund icon has spent the majority of his career playing at the Signal Iduna Park. But could that be coming to an end? The Daily Mirror are reporting that Reus could trade the yellow wall for North London. Tottenham are said to be sniffing around the German international with his contract winding down. Reus hasn’t had much luck of late when it comes to injuries so he might be thinking a change of scenery could help him, and with his contract entering its last year anything is possible.

Rating: 5/10

Mario Lemina: Southampton – Liverpool

Surprise, surprise, Liverpool linked with a Southampton player. Where have we heard that before? L’Equipe are reporting that Liverpool could be looking down south once more to bolster their ranks. The Gabon international has been one of the brightest sparks in what has been a dismal season for Southampton. It has almost become tradition for Liverpool to sign some of Southampton’s better players, but will it continue? I see this as a deal that could happen, particularly with it seeming more and more likely that Emre Can will leave at the end of his contract.

Rating: 7/10

Robert Lewandowski: Bayern Munich – Chelsea/Manchester United

Sky Sports reported earlier this week that the Polish superstar would like to leave the Allianz Arena should Bayern be willing to let him go. Lewandowski is enjoying another stellar season in Munich which seems to be an attempt to put himself in the shop window. Despite it seeming evident that the Pole wants to be playing his football outside of Bayern I think it would take an eye-watering amount of money for Bayern to allow him to leave. Chelsea and Manchester United are the leaders of the chasing pack but it will require something special for Karl-Heinz Ruminegge to let his number 9 go.

Rating: 4/10
