Manchester United have reportedly entered the race alongside some of Europe’s richest clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester City, for Lazio’s Spanish-born Serbian national midfielder, Sergej Milinković-Savić, according to the Manchester Evening News.
It appears United are keen to find a replacement for the imminent departure of club legend Michael Carrick, who is set to retire at the end of the season, and believe that the 22 year old Milinković-Savić is the perfect man to succeed the English great.
It’s easy to see why Europe’s elite clubs are interested in Serie A’s breakout star, who has a record of 11 goals and 6 assists in all competitions this campaign and scored a brace in Lazio’s recent 3-0 away victory to US Sassuolo, leading to him being named Man of the match. However, Lazio’s coach Simone Inzaghi expressed his intentions to hold on to the Serbian prodigy when interviewed after the comfortable victory.
United face heavy competition to the signature of Lazio’s number 21, with the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid also sniffing around the youngster’s heels, hoping to snatch him up.
